"I have been singing and involved in music for as long as I can remember. Most of my memories of childhood revolve around the music that I listened to or sang, and the music that happened spontaneously around our house.  As I grew up, I learned that the constant infusion of music had great benefits, and that not everyone had this in their lives. In my adult life I have chosen to help others enjoy those benefits as much as possible.
The benefits of music in daily life are well documented. They include stress reduction, emotional expression, mental invigoration, memory enhancement and just plain joy and relaxation.

"As I raised my family of five kids, I have been able to share the gift of music in many ways. I have performed, taught classroom music and individual lessons, led sing-along’s, organized performances and provided music for long-term care patients. All along the way, I have sung and participated in music for the benefit my own spirit. I have also continued my education and am working on a master’s degree in Music Therapy. Over the past few years I have met Sheila socially and talked about how our projects might intertwine.

"It is my hope that at Sunshine Arts, kids who would not otherwise have the opportunity will be able to share in the great things that music can provide.  I am hoping that over time all types of music experiences can happen, from listening to the most active, participation and invention. I know that we can provide the environment where kids can learn about and enjoy music, and can get to the point of creating their own music and sharing it with the world.

"Over the past few weeks I have worked with some of the kids, and had long talks with Sheila about plans and possibilities for the program.  I am very excited to be part of this, and I expect great things to come."
