Spring Celebration Success
Jun 26 2012
On May 16, 2012, Sunshine Arts celebrated world cultures with international food, music, dance and art. The event was a fundraising success for the organization and a fun-filled night for all the attendees.

Resident artist, Ivan, and volunteer, Alex, spread cuisine from around the globe across the new kitchen table which was decorated by resident artist, Patrick, with coins from many countries.

Craig Satchell kept the atmosphere lively with playful tunes on the piano.

Sunshine Arts Spring 2012
Resident artists, volunteers and guests joined in the theme by wearing cultural dress. Attendees enjoyed an Egyptian-style Middle Eastern Dance.

The food and beverages were so good that most of us helped ourselves to seconds... and thirds!

In the end, it was the smiling faces we saw and the laughter we heard that made the night really special.

To all our friends - those we saw that night and those we didn't - we owe it all to you! Thank you for your continued support.

Love & Gratitude
from everyone here at Sunshine Arts!
Please Attend Our International Extravaganza!

Sunshine Arts Spring 2012 Field Trip
Apr 12 2012
This Spring a group of Sunshine Arts' students got to celebrate the joys of nature by venturing into it. They got to enjoy lunch, tree climbing, and the Whispering Wall at beautiful Fairmount Park. A huge thank you goes out to our bus driver, Barry, without whom we would not have been able to partake in this wondrous experience!

Even the bus ride was an adventure!

What childhood is complete without tree climbing?

The descent may have been more challenging than the climb!

Fall 2011 Fundraiser in Review
Jan 05 2012
Whether you joined us in November 2011 to celebrate the 1920s or you would like to see what you missed, we think you will enjoy our Photo Review of the Fall 2011 Sunshine Arts Fundraiser!
Celebrating the Spirit of the 1920s... and Sunshine Arts!
Dec 09 2011

November 10th was the night of the big event and we were so excited that we opened our doors early for guests as anxious as we were to begin our celebration of the Roaring Twenties. Attendees were greeted by hostesses dressed in authentic 1920s outfits while Mr. Craig Satchell, Ms. Patty Leswing, and Mr. Kenny Taylor flooded the entrance way with the enchanting music of the Jazz Age.

Flappers, gangsters, daddies, and dolls paraded across the ornate chambers of the CITYSPACE location. Chef Brian Buscham served exquisite food while Ms. Anna Deych and Mr. Jack Morley provided service at the speakeasy wine bar. Guests perused the fine items up for auction, observing paintings, photos, pottery, gift baskets, and more. Mr. Todd Kimmel of the Grand Review took the stage for the exciting live auction of our ritziest items.

Our honored guests, Mrs. Cindy Heckscher and Mrs. Ann Reid, shone like stars when they accepted our expressions of gratitude for their unceasing support and responded with an unexpected show of appreciation. Mrs. Heckscher and Mrs. Reid had enlisted help of Ms. Kat Lehmer, resident artist and filmmaker, to create a video starring Sunshine Arts' founder, Ms. Sheila Modglin, and several of the children who come to Sunshine Arts. The children interviewed Ms. Modglin about the organization's history and revealed the early hopes and dreams that led to Sunshine Arts' founding and growth.

We want to thank everyone who attended, volunteered, and donated for an amazing night and fundraiser. We hope we've paid homage to our honored guests, our friends and supporters, and the glowing spirit of the art-filled 1920s.
